We must secure our borders. It is our national responsibility to our citizens and we must not shirk it. Unsecured borders are an emergency that requires our highest priority as a matter of national security. The Department of Homeland Security must be empowered to arrest, detain, and deport those who enter the United States illegally.

 Jobs in the United States are for those who are here legally. We must implement a national system by which citizenship is verified as a requirement for hiring, but we also must speed up the process of citizenship so that those seeking to come here legally can become contributing members of our society without arbitrary and needless delays.

 We must revive the melting pot model of cultural assimilation and make every legal immigrant proud to be an American, period, and not a hyphenated American. To do otherwise destroys our very social fabric.
