English as the Official Language
Written by Administrator

The Founders of our nation were from England. All our founding documents are in English. Besides these facts, there is even more compelling reason for codifying English into law. A common language is what holds a multi-ethnic nation together. Its common goal is effective communication. Currently laws are in play requiring ballots and numerous other documents to be in multiple languages. This practice is detrimental to the stability of the nation.

We can take a lesson from Eastern Europe, the nations of Africa, and the Indian subcontinent. These examples show the utter senselessness of promoting multiple tongues in America. Multiple languages battling for competition in public discussion are corrosive to a sense of one nation, many groups. English is not, by law, the official language. This is because the Founding Fathers never dreamed that a law would be necessary. They did not envision that one day other languages would compete with English. A law is now necessary to counter the call for multilingualism.

Multilingualism in itself is commendable. Skill in more than one language should be a goal for all who can attain it. Likewise, multilingual individuals can speak whatever language they choose in their homes and in private endeavors. In matters of government, business, and educational communication, however, English must be declared the official language. The unity of our nation depends upon it.
