Our health care system is an abysmal failure, because we have neglected to focus on preventative care and education. Creating universal health care by federal edict is a short-term solution.   We should first examine what has happened to the health care system in Great Britain.  After health care was nationalized, the quality of care deteriorated significantly.

   Creating policies that encourage the delivery of health care by the private sector reduces costs, fosters innovation, and is a long-term solution.
  We must partner with the private sector, health care providers, and Congress for a complete overhaul of our health care delivery system.
  Consumer-based health care is the answer, not employer-based.  When consumers can purchase affordable health insurance privately, businesses selling the insurance will be competitive in the global market.  Everyone benefits.
